I found this over on Tribe.net and can't believe I didn't see it on my flist. It should be noted that a great many of the words and phrases mentioned in the article, and the comments are frequently seen in query, synopsis, or cover letter.
I think you should issue a challenge to your blog readers to create the most obnoxious query they can. Scores should be based on the number of gaudy adverbs and cliches used with bonus points given for every word whose meaning you have to look up.
Come on, the entries would be both gripping and compelling - a true tour de force!

I do use "eschew," though. Eschew Obfuscation! Though that's more when I have my own editor hat on... >_>
