Anyone who has questions to ask, now is the time. Be it about the Winter Workout, or about anything else publishing, Onyxhawke or my tastes... type now or forever miss your keys.

I also have a question:

How did you hear about me?

I like good novels. That's the most helpful thing i can say. Some writers i've read and enjoyed are:
Robin Hobb, Rob Thurman, C.E. Murphy, Dave Freer, Sarah Hoyt, David Drake, Raymond Feist, Ray Bradbury, David Weber, Lois Bujold, Dianne Wynne Jones, David Coe, Michael Z Williamson, Julie Czernada, Elizabeth Bear, Kate Elliot, Mercedes Lackey, J V Jones, James Maxey, Rosemary Edghill, Joanne Bertin, Jane Lindskold, K. D. Wentworth, Poul Anderson, Orson Scott Card, Robert Asprin, Kelley Armstrong, Steven Brust,

Yes my fave authors are in there, but trying to write like someone is the first step towards failure.

That's not something I have ever done. One of the greatest compliments my readers give me is that I have my own distinctive 'voice'. My favorite authors are Cj Cherryh and Janny Wurts, but I wouldn't write like them. I wouldn't try. I don't want to *be* them, I want to be me. That's not to say one can't learn a heck of a lot from what other authors have done. But, whereas one person will love a novel I hate, I can 'hate' a novel and still admire its craft.

That's the thing which has always fascinated me about novel writing. You have to write what you love or feel passionate about (imho) but you can't try to please all the people. Not unless you want to go nuts.
