I completely agree with you about WFC! If I could go to just one con a year, but any con I wanted, it would be WFC. Alas, it is usually too far away for me to justify.
I think the reason I love it is that it is almost entirely about the writing. The people there are serious about the work. The food is good, and there are opportunities to talk seriously with other professionals, something some cons lack, as you can't find each other between panels.
I guess we shall have to attend in spirit. Our spirits can go to WFC, hang out, have a coffee together, and watch everything we're missing. ;-)
